2024 ACEC-RI Academic Scholarship
This annual scholarship is awarded for academic achievement, related work experience, extracurricular activities, and community involvement to full-time students enrolled in an engineering program that has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET-EAC.)
Originally founded as the Rhode Island Consulting Engineers (RICE), ACEC-RI is a member organization of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC.) The organization’s objective is to promote the business and professional interests of the engineering community. The Rhode Island member firms are committed to encouraging students to pursue an engineering education. In support of that goal, they have been rewarding academic scholarships to deserving engineering students for 30 years with a cumulative total of approximately $196,500.

Scholarship Application Procedures
ACEC-RI Scholarship Committee will receive completed applications from scholarship applicants through December 20, 2024.
The following is required from each applicant in order to be considered for award:
a. Completed ACEC-RI Scholarship Application form
b. Official transcripts (electronic copies are acceptable)
c. SAT/ACT scores (attach official score sheet) (only if College Freshman)
d. Applicant’s personal letter to the Scholarship Committee (The letter should highlight the applicant’s qualifications and need. The letter could be used to bring Committee attention to information not suitable for inclusion on or apparent from the application or the transcripts of the applicant. The applicant should include a brief narrative (no more than two or three sentences) citing the reasons why he or she believes they should be selected for the award).
Scholarship applicants are to attach as part of their application a letter of recommendation from a member of their high school faculty (teacher, guidance counselor, or principal), university/college faculty, a member of the engineering profession or like individual who can attest to the application’s character and ability. The applicant shall also provide notification if they are a relative of an ACEC-RI member organization employee.
Scholarships of up to $2,500 will be awarded to successful candidates for the spring semester or trimester that immediately follows the application period. Scholarship awards will be formally given to successful student applicant’s at ACEC-RI’s January meeting. Recipients of an ACEC-RI scholarship award are expected to attend, to accept the formal presentation of the award.
American Council of Engineering Companies of Rhode Island Scholarship Criteria
The recipient must be a citizen of the United States of America and enrolled as a full-time student in an engineering program at a university/college that has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET-EAC).
The candidate must have a least one academic semester or its equivalent remaining of undergraduate work.
Nominees will be considered on the basis of the information provided within the application.
Though not a requirement, preference may be given to:
a. A relative to an employee at an ACEC-RI member firm.
b. A permanent Rhode Island resident.
c. Candidates enrolled in a civil engineering, environmental engineering or other civil related program, though students of all engineering curriculums are eligible.

Meet the 2023 Winners
ACEC Rhode Island, a professional association representing forty-eight engineering firms doing business in Rhode Island, presented a total of $12,500 in academic scholarships in January 2024. The five awards of $2,500 each were presented to the following students:
